Meet Dr. Cillo
Dr. Cillo completed his undergraduate and dental degrees at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. He completed an Internship and residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Memorial Hospital at the prestigious Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas, Texas where he trained in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery including advanced orthognathic (jaw) surgery, maxillofacial trauma, maxillofacial reconstructive surgery, obstructive sleep apnea surgery, bone grafting, and dental implant surgery. He then completed a one-year fellowship in Maxillofacial Tumor and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine under Dr. Robert Marx where he trained in advanced techniques in complex facial, oral and dental implant reconstruction.

He is currently the Associate Professor of Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine and Residency Program Director in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He sees patients at both the Allegheny General Hospital, Fox Chapel and Mount Lebanon locations.
Dr. Cillo serves on the Examination Committee of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) is the certifying board for the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery in the United States and is recognized and approved by the Council on Dental Education of the American Dental Association. Members of the ABOMS Examination Committee perform many duties specific to the board certification process. In addition to acting as an Examiner and writing cases for the Oral Certifying Examination (OCE), they are also responsible for submitting items for the Qualifying Examination (QE), Recertification Examination (RE) and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery In-Service Training Examination (OMSITE).
In 2007, he was the recipient of the Faculty Educator Development Award from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Throughout his career, Dr. Cillo has conducted, lectured and published research in many areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including maxillofacial trauma, anesthesia, sleep apnea, dental implants, and maxillofacial tumor and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Cillo’s commitment to research and education led him to pursue Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Healthwhere his Master’s Essay was on the “Public Health Overview of Adult Obstructive Sleep Apnea.” He continued with his graduate school studies and earned a PhD in Public Health Epidemiology from Walden University School of Health Sciences with his dissertation on the “Association of Risk Factors for and Severity of Geriatric Facial Trauma.”
He has special interest in all phases of simple and complex dental implant and bone graft surgery. He has extensive experience in maxillofacial trauma and reconstructive surgery, benign maxillofacial tumor and reconstructive surgery, orthognathic (jaw) surgery, and obstructive sleep apnea surgery.
